Planting shrubs and trees can be a complicted process. We may want to plant trees for many reasons, to replace a fallen, diseased or damaged tree, for privacy, wind shelter or just to make an area look better. They add a wonderful aesthetic appeal and help to build a calming and serene ambience, but whatever the reason, it's best to call on a skilled landscaper to plant and guide the growth of your new trees.

Transplanted saplings may need a period of years of care in order to make sure they don't die due to transplant shock.

Making sure the tree is well watered is an important aspect, staking on the side from which the wind blows most often and support may be needed to keep the tree upright while it establishes its root system, and care of the roots while the transplanting takes place are all things that Tom O'Rourke knows how to look after.

This is best done during the Autumn, when trees fall "asleep", that is to say they aren't producing fruit or leaves and are consolidating for the winter. The size, depth and width of the hole will vary based on the type of tree you're planting, the amount of space the tree will need to grow, not putting the tree whip too low in the ground, keeping it perfectly vertical, the kind of care and pruning that will be needed for the following seasons are all part of our service.
